Common questions
Why does my collection say “Manually” in Shopify?
Shopify only lets apps reorder collections that are sorted manually, so turning sorting on switches the collection to Manual. Turning sorting off puts back the Shopify sort it had before.
What counts as sold out?
By default, a product is sold out when none of its variants can be bought, which matches the Sold out label on your store. Pre-orders and products set to continue selling stay up. In Settings you can switch to “when no stock is left” and list tags that never move down.
How quickly does a collection update?
Within a minute of a stock change, a new product or an edit. Sales figures are counted every 6 hours, best-selling and most-in-stock collections are re-checked every hour, and every collection twice a day.
What’s the difference between “Best selling” and “Most units sold”?
“Best selling” is Shopify’s own ranking. “Most units sold”, “Most revenue” and “Most profit” come from your orders over the period you choose, after refunds and cancellations, so a big refunded order doesn’t push a product up. They need access to your orders, which you can allow from the collection’s page.
Can I still drag products in Shopify?
Yes, with “Your own order”: your drags are kept, and sold-out products go back to their spot when they’re restocked. With the other orders, pin products in Sorto instead.
Does Sorto hide or change my products?
No. It only changes the order of products in collections. It never hides, unpublishes or edits a product.
Will it work with my filter or search app?
Yes. The order is saved in Shopify, so themes and apps that show the collection’s own order follow it. Some search and filter apps keep their own copy of the order; after a big change they may need to re-sync.
Does it work with Shopify Flow?
Yes. In Flow you can start a workflow when a product in a sorted collection sells out or comes back, or when sorting needs your attention. Sorto also adds Flow actions to sort collections, and to pin or unpin a product.
Something isn’t sorting the way I expect.
Open the collection in Sorto: the preview shows every product’s position and why it’s there, and Activity lists every change. If it still looks wrong, email us and we’ll look at it with you.
